The International Subcommission on Silurian Stratigraphy (ISSS) is a subcommission of the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS). The objectives of the subcommission are as follows:
1) The development of an internationally agreed scale of chronostratigraphic units, fully defined by GSSPs at Series and Stage levels and related to a hierarchy of units to maximize relative time resolution within the Silurian Period;
2) Establishment of frameworks and mechanisms to encourage international collaboration in understanding the evolution of the Earth during the Silurian Period;
3) Working towards an international policy concerning conservation of geologically important sites.
ISSS Symposium and IGCP 591 Annual Meeting at Quebec on July 8-11, 2015
The 5th International Symposium on the Silurian System and the 5th Annual Meeting of the IGCP 591 Project will be held at Quebec. The meeting is scheduled for July 8-11, prescription 2015, with the pre-conference excursion to the Gaspé Peninsula on July 3-7, sales and the post-conference excursion to the Anticosti Island on July 13-20.

12th ISOS Symposium at Harrisonburg, Virginia on June 8-11, 2015
The 12th International Symposium on the Ordovician System will be hosted on the campus of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, sales Virginia, June 8-11, 2015. Five field trips to the Ordovician in Appalachian, Oklahoma and Idaho will be organized before and after the conference. A theme issue will be published at Stratigraphy.
